fave 5 interior ideas

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

I was chuffed to be asked to guest post for Calico & Co’s first birthday week today (happy birthday to youuuu!). I wrote about the 5 decor ideas I’m loving right now and how I’ve incorporated them into my home as well as how the pros do it. Here is a peek…

1. 3-D picture walls
I love photo and picture walls, but to make them a little more interesting I mix them up with something other than frames – wooden letters, paper birds, handpainted words or decorative elements, jewellery or single pegged photos. I especially like sticking up a single flower or small bunch of lavender with masking tape on the wall amongst the frames. The inclusion of a little life is a nice surprise and always makes me smile.

You can read the other four ideas I love here. And also be sure to check out Amanda’s blog of all things crafty and cool, and her new eco-friendly stationery store – Lemon Tree Lane – which has a great range of cute cards and prints for all occasions. I love the In Any Language prints, $US10 each – sweet idea!

maskingtapecloseRemember my rainbow chair and table set I made over with Japanese masking tape? I’m pleased the say the contact paper has not budged so it is as perfectly clean and dirt-free as it was the day I did it – the beauty of high-gloss paint and contact paper! Aside from updating you on its easy cleanability, I wanted to share the part two I’d mentioned back then. I couldn’t tell you at the time because I was waiting for the online mag to come out that it was published in. And now it has! Lovely Rachelle of Kenziepoo has just launched an online mag, La Petite, and my activity table is included. You can find instructions for turning this simple Ikea table into a Duplo/Lego table and chalkboard (of COURSE chalkboard paint was involved!) in the little flip mag.

Also out this week is Little Miss Heirlooms‘ new online mag, Babiekins (hmph, am I the only person NOT creating a mag? And I even have magazine experience! Ha!) for mummies. I was asked to contribute to this one too but with all that was happening in recent weeks, wasn’t able to get it done in time. So next issue! But check out both mags for great finds, tips and tricks and sweet photoshoots. Great job girls!

5blogs

…these fabulous five (god I loved that Enid Blyton adventure series…) blogs I discovered through the Blogging Your Way course I’ve been doing these past few weeks. It has been such fun and so inspiring, I’m sad it’s ending today – for the first time ever I’ve enjoyed doing homework (even if I’ve turned it in late!) and eagerly waited for class to begin. If you have a blog and are keen to give it a little more love, look out for Holly’s next class. I’m not sure if Leslie is also teaching again, but I hope for future pupils that she does – they’re a great duo. And so, I thought I’d introduce you to a few fellow classmates whose blogs I’ve found myself returning to several times. Enjoy, enjoy! x
