Just in case the tickles in the wall or the monsters rear their ugly heads again, I've heard of this trick: put a drop of lavendar oil in a small spray bottle filled with water and call it "Monster Spray" or "Tickles-be-Gone" or whatever works (hmmm...a cute label might be in order). Have a go at spraying the room like crazy before bedtime -- the lingering lavender scent is supposed to be calming and the little ritual kind of affirms that his worries are real, albeit fixable. Worth a try!

Am totally relating to the sleep deprivation for other reasons. Wondering if I will ever again have a day when I am not zombie-like. Sigh. Yawn.

jane, i totally agree. i much prefer the days we spontaneously do something special or fun or surprise each other with a small gift just because. ive never been one for valentines or anniversaries...

fellow sleep-deprived: am pleased to say zak has slept fine the past three nights. i put him on a mattress in layla's room and if he wakes up he just wants his music star on (this star that emits a moving picture on the ceiling and plays music) and he drifts back to slumberland - no screaming, no crying, no "i want you"; "i neeed you". am relieved he's getting some sleep but totally peed off that we just spent all that time, effort and money creating them their own rooms... i'm sure he'll get over it and go back to his own soon enough - or maybe we'll swap them totally, i'm sure layla won't care where she sleeps. i'm goign to try her travel cot in his room after a while and see how she goes in there and him in her room alone. if it works maybe that's the winner... stay tuned for the next installment of the Neverending Room-Swapping Adventures of the Graham Family!!!

bree, you're right - sticking to something for a while works - i did everything for several nights but the problem was i could it fine when he first went to bed, but when he'd wake up three times in the one ngiht and i'd have to do it all ovre again for hours? i couldn't phyiscally do. and it's all caught up with me. sick as a dog! ugh i think once we've all recovered and he's back to normal i'll try him in his room again and be persistent.. we'll see!

thanks for all your advice! xx
