things i discovered this week…

… this lovely living room. I’m in love. Via Ohdeedoh

ryan

… that my brand new nephew is SO CUTE! Ryan Lucas Christian was born on Thursday evening with 10 perfect fingers and 10 perfect toes and two eyes which amazingly he still has despite Layla trying really hard to poke them out (poking with love, though, not maliciously – she’s obsessed with babies). I love new babies – their smell, their sounds, their tininess! Hard to believe my two were a similar size not too long ago… So far little Ryan has been a good bubba to his parents who celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary on his birth day. Couldn’t have been a more perfect day for them – they’ve wanted this for so long. So congrats to Kristie and Tim!

… that Foxtel IQ is quite dangerous. We’ve had it five days and I’ve used up about 20% of the recording bank already and spent way too much time watching the ridiculously large TV we have in the living room… Stayed up till 2.20am watching Iron Man last night which I didn’t even really like but wanted to watch the end of and see the results of Gwyneth Paltrow’s gruesome workout she did for the movie. I kept waiting for her to get physical or something but all she did was teeter around in heels and pretty dresses… A waste of a work-out really!

globe

… that Buyster has a new store – Buyster Furniture - selling goodies such as Globe West. I think it’s new – I don’t remember seeing it beforehand… Anyway, check out these fave finds, above.

woolies

… that you can do your Christmas shopping at Woolworths. To a degree. Here are a couple of things I’ve picked up for the kids and emergency gifts: The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Little Golden Books; wooden fruit/vegie/sandwich set (very similar to picture) and Eco Store Lemongrass Soap – yummiest smelling soap ever. Re-wrap in pretty paper and you have a good-looking and great-smelling pressie that cost you a few bucks!

… that December 1 is this Tuesday! I only realised this yesterday – am so out of it when it comes to dates – which meant I had the weekend to organise an advent calendar. Yes, yes I could have just bought one, but where is the fun in that? So I zoomed up to Spotlight, grabbed some supplies and whipped something up Saturday night. I’ve made it a project, so will post on Tuesday. We don’t put our tree up until the 6th – my dad is German so we grew up with their traditions – so I have a bit of time to get some decorations, but I did settle on a colour theme: red and white. I try to change it up a little each year with a different colour, but I’m going back to my childhood this year with character ornaments, candy canes and something a little more kid-like rather than those “sophisticated” and grown-up styles I usually try to do. How are you decorating/celebrating this year?

Some of you have asked me some questions and I’ve been a slacko and haven’t answered them yet – I’ll do it tomorrow in a post. If you have any others, ask away… Until then, ta-ta!

  1. That living room is absolutely GORGEOUS! And CONGRATS to you and your family! How wonderful to have a new little man to love! It goes by all too fast, doesn’t it? You can always add #3 to your little people, right? :-)

We got IQ on Thursday and oh boy is it addictive. I love that I can now tape my favourite shows.

I have a few questions for you, but perhaps you don’t want to share: How are you going now that you’re not ‘officially’ working for Real Living? Are you enjoying the slower pace {if it is slower}?

Can we see what your bedroom looks like? I am doing mine up at the moment, and would love some inspiration.
