…that I’ve found my dream house. Well, another dream house. I know, I have lots but I honestly love every single thing about this home and have too many favourite parts: the palette, the mirrored shower, the black kitchen, the stone, the gorgeous beams, the whole living room, the bronze silk drum pendants, those floating stairs (despite being totally impractical with children; with my children). I. Love. It. This house has been featured in InsideOut and I’m pretty sure was on the cover of Living Etc a while back, so I’m a bit late to the love party, but I only got to really view and read about it this week when I picked up the latest copy of InsideOut and scored the May 2009 issue with it (this deal is at Woolworths; not sure if it’s across the board). Makes me want to move to France and renovate an ancient farmhouse… You can see a few more pics here {images via Living Inside}
…that Layla chose today – her half birthday (she’s 18 months exactly today) to actually say words other than mama, dada, ak, bubba, more and again. Her first word? “Pop-off”. As in fart. She likes to point to her bottom and tell us when she’s done one – or when, um, land comes with that pop-off. So we always ask her “poo-poo or pop-off” and usually just get a nod but today she actually said “pop-off”. Next word: “book”. And also? “mapool”: which means apple and is close enough so she can claim it.
…that one of my fave Aussie homewares designers – Dandi - have child-proofed their mummy-and-me aprons (oh! I forgot them for the mini-me post!) by creating an oil-cloth range of aprons in two sizes. I’d been waiting for Layla to get a little bit bigger before I buy her the mini pini in Olive Branch Chocolate to match my own, but these might make life easier being wipe-downs. And they’d be great for painting as well as in the kitchen. Oilcloth Childs Apron in Olive Branch Pistachio (pictured) or Bloom are $34.95 each; the adult size is $39.95. The fab pinis (below) are $29.95 and are still my fave. I gave one to my grandmother one Christmas and at lunch on Christmas Day, my aunty commented on her beautiful dress, Nana looked down and realised she was still wearing her apron! Hehe. {images via Dandi}
… that if I want to wear this dress for a couple of weddings early next year and actually look half decent in it, I’m going to have to work out. A little more than lifting chocolate bars and crouching to hide under the table during hide-and-seek. And so I went for a run along the water this morning. I didn’t think I’d make it back alive and yet here I am! Am so proud. Not so proud of tripping in the gutter and twisting my ankle on the walk home. But not surprised either! Back to the dress: it’s Witchery and I bought it online and without ever trying it on in store so am slightly nervous it’ll just look crap. Or slightly skanky. Now I just need shoes… PS: Witchery has a 20% off everything instore and online.
… that I have two hens days on the same weekend in January. Am so, so glad they didn’t fall on the same day and I’d have to choose – how awful!
… this awesome idea: the cord form the lamp is turned into an artwork on the wall. Am not sure I’ve ever seen a lamp with such a long cord but I do love the look of it. {image via Style Files}

Mmmm…I think I love that house too, although not so m uch that! staircase
Oh I think I will be saving this house to the file! I agree with Katherine – that staircase looks scary. Too many vodka’s and whoopsy…not to mention broken limbs for my wrestling made boys
Just kidding…I wouldn’t complain if it were mine!
Gorgeous house…love the shower! The dress is lovely too…and congrats on the run! Good work!
Oh what a beautiful house. Definitely a worry – those floating stairs.
Love the ‘pop-off’ our 2yo Riley calls them a Mick fart after his Uncle Mick who could be The Aussie Farter of the Year!!LOL
