I’ve been working out how I want the inside of the new studio to look. Oh, yeah, I’m calling it “studio” now – it has a less hillbilly ring to it. I’ve settled on white floors and the usual neutral palette – so no surprises there! As for how I want it to look and feel, I keep coming back to this image.
I think this room sums it all up for me: white, beautiful soothing palette with touch-me texture and a little bit of tough industrial chic. That teal of the lamp is the absolute bestest colour ever, so I’m going to try and add a little of that somewhere. What I DO want, is that exact lamp, but I might have to settle for something similar in a silver or black and get a dose of teal some other way. But if you do know where I can get one like this (anyone know the designer?) please do let me know. I’ll try and rustle up another post next week with a few more pics I’d like to somehow catch the essence of…
If I don’t get back for a “discoveries post” today (they’re quite the time-consumers), have a lovely, lovey weekend! x

I love teal and white and dark chocolate brown together, I have that palette in my lounge room
…you absolutely must have THAT lamp…
I really like your ideas – can’t wait to see pics of the finished studio
Love those white floorboards and the throw on that bed is gorgeous – adds the perfect hit of texture.
Oh, your studio is going to be lovely!
Love white floors and that lamp is so nice! Its not the EXACT lamp, but this one is similar

The finish is not painted though, which to me is part of the appeal of the one in your pic!
I would probably try to source a vintage industrial style lamp, I bet you could find one and then spray paint it in a metalic paint? I am sure I’ve seen stuff like that in antique stores in the past!
i know! i NEED that lamp! Rosie and Nicole – I have actually found a black vintage one i want, just not sure if I should paint it or not. am not having much luck on google with this. i know they get really hot so not sure if paint is the way to do – if it will burn? a bit different to a lamp base which has a bice buffer between it and the heat of the light source. soooo, i might ask a paint person if it’s doable. the tertial from ikea would be PERFECT to paint. and costs virtually nothing. i just wish they still sold the bases… am sure i had one as a kid so might need to ask the parents if they still have the base somewhere. but i doubt it!
I just want to curl up in that bed! That colour palette is just relaxing.
No wonder you want ‘that’ lamp it’s fabulous.
That room has such a ‘dreamy, peaceful’ look about it.
Sounds lovely
. And the lamp is lovely
Have a great weekend.

The teal lamp is really nice, but the crochet throw is divine, the colour and the texture. Can’t wait to see how your studio ends up, this colour combo is lovely.

honey, i think we can help with the lamp – not the colour, but the exact style…..will see what we have in storage…x
yay shelley! is it an Anglepoise Original 1227? looks a lot like it. so lovely!
What a gorgeous room! Definitely strikes a lovely vibe for an inspirational studio. Can’t wait to see your progress as you go.
sigh, I really don’t think there is anything there that could be better…imagine clicking that to die for lamp on ever night when the kids are in bed…and the throw…and pillows…I guess my old vintage door by my bedside kinda matches up!
Merry Christmas

Doug Up On Bourke had one almost identical – about a month ago – and I think it was about $150 or so??? …And I don’t think there would be a problem painting the outside of the light. Renae painted the Ikea ones she got for her dining room. She used a marine paint, though. I think that was for durability and the finish.
